Sophie CORKS

Sophie Corks is a contemporary artist based in Orange, NSW, and a mother of two young daughters. Through vibrant acrylic paintings, she tells stories of regional Australian life with colour, warmth and a playful, nostalgic style. Her work is shaped by a rural upbringing in a small country town, alongside years spent living in Sydney, Paris and Brighton, UK.
Sophie’s paintings capture familiar scenes such as backyards, verandahs, beach shacks and quiet suburban moments. With colour at the core of her practice and bold, playful compositions, she celebrates the beauty and humour of regional Australia, inviting viewers to reconnect with their own memories. A narrative painter, she uses recurring motifs and references to past design, architecture and fashion to layer each work with nostalgia and meaning.
Her work has been exhibited in solo and group shows and at art fairs across Australia, and is held in private collections nationally and internationally. In 2024, Sophie was a finalist in the Regional Landscape Art Prize, Inside This Box Prize and the Jumbled Art Superstar Awards, following the sell-out success of her 2023 exhibition Town & Country.
